Sol

I wanted to do a realistic portrait, and show all of the parts that make me unique. The
wrinkles in my lips, the way each coil in my hair forms a different way. While these
things may not be considered “perfect”, there is still beauty and significance in every
detail. As children, my father gave my sisters and I nicknames from the heavens. Fiery,
unwavering, with big, golden blonde hair, “Sol”, is the nickname that stuck with me. As
humans, our existence is literally created and sustained by the Sun. It invigorates,
renews, and is a symbol of power. This drawing represents me, “Sol”, at my most
comfortable, relaxed state, under the rays of the Sun.
