While taking a week-long birthday trip in California, I visited Muir Woods. I was inspired
by its beauty and resilience. The redwood trees are able to live for thousands of years,
and many of the trees in Muir Woods are scarred by forest fires. Their roots run deep,
and they are home to many different endangered species. I used various different sizes
of archival ink pens, using hatching and crosshatching to display the textures of the
rough, pitted grooves in the trees.
